In a candid conversation that was recorded on a hidden camera and broadcast by Zee News, the 57-year-old had accused former captain Virat Kohli and former cricket board chief Sourav Ganguly of having an ego clash.

An unidentified BCCI official was quoted by the Press Trust of India as saying that Sharma’s position had “become untenable” following the sting.

After the BCCI fired the entire selection panel in response to India’s poor T20 World Cup performance last year, Sharma was reappointed chief selector in January.
The former right-arm medium pacer who played international cricket for India until 1994 was the first cricketer to score a hat trick in a Cricket World Cup in 1987.
His departure occurs during a busy year for international competitions, with India likely to host the ODI World Cup in November and the World Test Championship in July.
